Game overview

Are you stealing for your daughter? For people struggling in poverty? Or for your own desires? What fate awaits Ebizo?

Become the honorable thief Ebizo and steal in order to help the weak.

Steal goods displayed in merchant houses one after another with elegant linked techniques. Unlock safes and storehouses and steal what is inside. Pickpocket valuables from people's clothing. You can even steal a townswoman's kimono.

Master stylish theft through a wide variety of thieving actions suited to different situations and targets.

The many people you encounter as the story progresses, together with the actions you choose, cause the story to change in various ways.

One-Button Stealth: hide flexibly in any situation

One-Button Stealth lets you quickly hide at any time. Crouching and pressing yourself against surfaces are only the beginning.

Crawl forward or backward, hide in a closet, brace yourself against the ceiling, or even cling to another person. Simple controls let you immediately perform actions that suit the situation.

If an enemy is nearby, you can even pickpocket them while hiding.

Just Stealth: get the timing right

Perform One-Button Stealth at the instant you enter the line of sight of townspeople or the arson-and-theft investigators to activate Just Stealth. Steal while in this state to trigger a Stylish Steal.

During Stylish Steal, successive pickpocket attempts can succeed even against difficult targets, and you can steal nearby loot all at once. Each successful theft also adds Style Points.

Attention Control: elegantly deceive watchful eyes

The essence of theft is to keep those around you from even realizing that anything has been stolen. Attention Control, which diverts or focuses their attention, is vital.

The basic approach is to draw attention by throwing an object against something to make a sound. Experienced players can also attempt riskier techniques, such as making contact themselves to distract someone and stealing at that exact moment.

Furoshiki actions: stealing too much carries a high risk

Place stolen goods into your furoshiki wrapping cloth. Once the bundle grows, you can kick it like a soccer ball to manipulate attention or handle it acrobatically to intimidate enemies.

However, a bundle that becomes too large gets in the way. It can make hiding behind objects difficult or become stuck in narrow places.

Story

At the end of the Edo period, the Silver Ravens, a group of honorable thieves based in the Tohoku region, had made a name for themselves.

Among them was Ebizo, a young thief who dreamed of following the path of honorable theft. One day, he witnesses his fellow Silver Ravens brutally murdering the residents of a mansion they have infiltrated.

Disillusioned, Ebizo resolves to protect Suzuna, a girl he encounters inside the mansion. Following the advice of Ainosuke, a trusted older-brother figure, he leaves town with her.

Ten years pass.

Ebizo has supported the orphaned Suzuna through honest work as a carpenter. She has grown into a cheerful, brave-hearted daughter. Although poor, the two have lived peacefully and happily.

But Suzuna contracts a serious illness and needs expensive medicine. Reunited with Ainosuke, Ebizo establishes the honorable-thief group Aizodan with him and returns to the business of stealing.

Does he steal for his daughter, for people struggling in poverty, or for his own desires? What destiny awaits him?
