The series unfolds across Disney worlds. The addition of new worlds, including Pixar settings, expands Kingdom Hearts III into an even grander universe.
Alongside exhilarating action, battles feature theme-park-attraction-style spectacles and combination techniques with Disney characters, reaching a new high for the series. Enjoy an entertainment-filled experience unique to Kingdom Hearts.
Story
One day, Sora acquired a key-shaped sword called a Keyblade. To reunite with his separated best friends Riku and Kairi, he set out with Donald and Goofy, who had received orders from King Mickey.
To save the worlds, their doors needed to be locked from both the light and dark sides. Riku chose to remain in the realm of darkness.
Organization XIII, working in secret throughout the worlds, repeatedly stood in Sora's path and provoked battles. They sought his Keyblade to complete Kingdom Hearts, described as a gathering of the hearts of worlds and people.
Learning that the struggles surrounding Kingdom Hearts had been proceeding according to Master Xehanort's plans to trigger the Keyblade War, Sora and his friends sought to gather seven guardians of light to oppose the darkness.
King Mickey and Riku began searching for experienced Keyblade wielders. Meanwhile, Sora, Donald and Goofy once again traveled through a variety of Disney worlds to recover the power of waking.
Explore Disney, Pixar and original worlds
The Kingdom Hearts series takes Sora, Donald and Goofy on adventures through many Disney and original worlds.
Kingdom Hearts III introduces Pixar's Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. to the series, bringing stories with a more varied cast of characters. The worlds of Frozen and the live-action Pirates of the Caribbean films are also depicted with the series' most accomplished graphics.
Sora, Donald and Goofy change their appearances to suit certain worlds: they become toy-like in Toy Story and monster-like in Monsters, Inc. There is something to see from every angle.
Toy Box — Toy Story
Strange incidents are happening around Woody and the other toys. Andy and other toys have disappeared, apparently at the same time that the Heartless began appearing.
Monstropolis — Monsters, Inc.
Sora takes on a monster's appearance to enter this world. Sulley and Mike work at Monsters, Inc., converting human children's laughter into energy.
Randall, who bears resentment toward Sulley, draws Sora and his companions into trouble.
Arendelle — Frozen
In the snowy mountains, Sora and his friends meet Elsa, who wears a sorrowful expression and keeps others at a distance.
Unable to leave her alone, they follow Elsa, but encounter Larxene of the real Organization XIII. Larxene is watching Elsa's movements with interest.
The Caribbean — Pirates of the Caribbean
Setting out toward the far end of the sea, Sora reunites with Jack, with whom he previously adventured.
Jack is searching for a box to free himself from Davy Jones's curse. Luxord of the real Organization XIII appears, declares a parley and reveals that he too is searching for the box.
San Fransokyo — Big Hero 6
Excited by the sight of this great city, Sora and his friends meet Big Hero 6, the team that protects it.
While working together to defeat the Heartless, they encounter a strange enemy. Appearing before Sora is someone who looks like Riku, wearing a black coat.
Olympus — Hercules
Having lost his strength, Sora visits Hercules in this world to discover how to regain it.
There he encounters Hades, who seeks revenge against Hercules. Meanwhile, Maleficent and Pete appear in search of a box.
Kingdom of Corona — Tangled
Rapunzel has lived in a tower since childhood. She wants to see for herself the floating lights that appear every year on her birthday.
With Flynn's help, she finally leaves the tower. Marluxia of the real Organization XIII cooperates with Mother Gothel, who pursues her. What is his purpose?
100 Acre Wood — Winnie the Pooh
Hearing from Merlin that something is unusual about the cover of the book where Pooh lives, Sora visits the 100 Acre Wood to investigate.
There, a troubled Rabbit comes to him for advice.
More powerful, exhilarating action
The action-focused battles are further enhanced, with a wide variety of attacks and spectacular presentation. Simple controls let you perform dynamic techniques.
Fight while piloting robots, enjoy aerial battles and play mini-games. A wide range of activities, worlds and characters brings together the series' most accomplished action and graphics.
Keyblade transformations
There are many kinds of Keyblade, the weapon carried by chosen wielders. Each has different finishing techniques and transformation methods, changing Sora's fighting style.
Their looks and powers change too. Once transformed, they offer varied ways to attack, including forms such as drills and yo-yos, opening many possible strategies.
Attraction Flow
Damage enemies with attacks that resemble theme-park attractions. They can help you target many enemies at once or confront a large foe.
Team up with friends
Disney characters who join you in each world play an active role in combat. Cooperation with Sora unleashes powerful combination techniques for greater damage, giving you confidence against formidable enemies.
The appearance and variety of these techniques bring battles to a new high for the series.
Links
Characters from other worlds lend Sora their support. The varied characters, effects and beautiful graphics include Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph.
Gummi Ship
The familiar Gummi Ship returns as a way to travel between worlds. Enjoy both a battle-focused mode and free exploration.
Mini-games
Alongside regular battles, the game offers a wealth of mini-games and other activities.
