The gears of fate begin to turn once again

The long-awaited latest installment is here. Thirty years after Mega Man's birth, the fun remains unchanged. Mega Man 11 celebrates the series' 30th anniversary with the responsive controls and distinctive gameplay fans know, detailed graphics, and a new power: the Double Gear System.

About Mega Man

The first Mega Man was released in December 1987. Its innovative game systems and carefully developed balance captivated many game fans. The original series reached ten installments, while numerous spin-offs followed, including Mega Man X, Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Battle Network. Now, the long-awaited new numbered installment arrives as the series' 30th-anniversary title.

Story

The evil scientist Dr. Wily completes his forbidden research and once again attacks a peaceful robot society. His invention is the Double Gear System, a device that dramatically increases a robot's abilities. Its extraordinary performance also makes it dangerous: the research was suspended, and the device became the cause of a dispute between Dr. Light and Dr. Wily.

To counter the threat, Dr. Light decides to install in Mega Man the Double Gear System prototype that Wily created long ago. Can Mega Man put a stop to Dr. Wily's ambitions? The gears of fate begin to turn once again.

Difficulty settings

A wide range of difficulty settings lets beginners and advanced players alike enjoy mastering a 2D action game. The Japanese edition's NEW COMER setting reduces enemies' durability and provides support to prevent instant defeat from terrain traps or falls. ADVANCED suits players with experience of the series who have been away for a while, while ORIGINAL SPEC. is intended for active players. EXPERT offers an even tougher challenge than previous installments.

Movement and detailed graphics

Enjoy action with illustration-like, high-definition graphics and the smooth movement made possible by a high frame rate. Extensive tuning preserves the quick response of the older pixel-art games. Familiar moves such as the Charge Shot and slide remain available.

Stages filled with ingenious obstacles

Mega Man's journeys through each stage are reputed to be even tougher than their bosses. In Mega Man 11, a variety of carefully devised mechanisms and traps stand in the player's way.

Boss abilities and stage selection

Defeat a boss to obtain its power and use it to tackle new stages. Each distinctive boss grants a special ability; acquiring a powerful weapon can completely change your approach.

Choose freely among eight stages. Will you start with a stage you know well, or with one that gives you an advantageous weapon? Your strategy begins with stage selection.

A new power: the Double Gear System

Speed Gear is available from the start of the game. Activating it slows the passage of time around Mega Man, allowing him to move relatively faster.

Power Gear increases the number of shots from the Mega Buster and substantially strengthens special weapons while it is active.

Double Gear can be activated only when Mega Man is in serious danger. It operates both gears at once, providing the power to turn a desperate situation around. Reaching its limit forces Mega Man to overheat.

Challenges

Point Getter challenges you to compete for points by defeating enemies. Defeat them consecutively to earn a bonus multiplier.

In Time Attack, the elapsed time appears at the top center of the screen. Alongside challenges for individual stages, a variety of other challenges are available.

Minimum Jump displays your jump count at the upper right of the screen. Unnecessary movement is strictly off limits.

In Balloon Attack, break only the blue balloons and clear the stage as quickly as possible. Breaking red balloons results in a time penalty.

Mega Man

Mega Man was built by Dr. Light as a household helper robot. To stop Dr. Wily's ambitions, he volunteered to be converted into a combat robot. In this installment, he incorporates the Double Gear System into himself and enters the fight to oppose Dr. Wily.

Rush

Mega Man's dependable partner transforms into Rush Coil, with a large spring on his back that sends Mega Man into a high jump, and Rush Jet, which flies while carrying Mega Man on his back.

Dr. Wily

Mega Man has thwarted Dr. Wily's plans for world domination time and again. Completing the Double Gear System rekindles his ambitions once more.

Tundra Man

A robot built for polar exploration and surveying dances across a rink at absolute zero. Captivated by ice dancing he saw on television, Tundra Man has practiced alone in the polar regions. To satisfy his desire to perform before an audience, he uses his prized techniques to demonstrate elegant, swift and dangerous dances.

When he activates Speed Gear, he attacks with high-speed skating reminiscent of speed skating, then unleashes an absolute-zero blizzard with a spinning jump.

Torch Man

An outdoor adviser and practitioner of his original Torch Flame Fist martial art, Torch Man trains continually to control the flames rising from his body. Using his carefully honed fighting techniques, he rampages as he pleases. His favorite flaming kicks are especially powerful: a hit can send Mega Man flying all the way to the edge of the stage.

Torch Man uses Power Gear. Activating it makes him lose his restraint and become more ferocious, releasing even more powerful flames with wild intensity.

Boss roster

The eight bosses are Tundra Man, Acid Man, Bounce Man, Impact Man, Torch Man, Blast Man, Fuse Man and Block Man.

Acid Man

Handle with care: a dangerous mad scientist. Originally a robot that produced various chemicals in a chemical plant, Acid Man became a mad scientist following Wily’s modifications and now delights in creating hazardous chemicals. He surrounds himself with a chemical barrier and attacks by firing chemical projectiles.

When Speed Gear activates, he dives into the pool of dangerous chemicals below him and swims at high speed, sending up splashes as he attacks.

Bounce Man

An instructor robot at an indoor athletic facility, Bounce Man was originally developed for impact testing. An innocent optimist, he seems to consider even his battle with Mega Man a game. He makes use of his rubber body to bounce around while throwing punches with incredible reach.

Despite his large size, he is fitted with Speed Gear. Activating it increases his body’s elasticity, allowing him to bounce throughout the stage at speeds too fast to follow with the eye.

Impact Man

A versatile construction-support robot responsible for foundation work on building sites, Impact Man is formed when the three pile-driving robot brothers Kuiichiro, Kuijiro and Kuisaburo combine. With only their headlong spirit and sense of duty to advance the work running out of control, they continue chaotic construction endlessly.

Despite his large, heavy body, Impact Man specializes in high-speed rushing attacks. When the Power Gear installed by Wily activates, he combines with his subordinate pile-driving robots and grows enormous, bearing down on Mega Man with an extremely thick pile of overwhelming destructive power.

Blast Man

An explosion artist who creates explosive effects for films and theme parks, Blast Man has a short temper and readily lets his emotions explode. He races around the stage with the agile movements he developed at blasting sites, scattering bombs wherever his desire for explosions leads him.

As battle progresses and his emotions intensify, he activates the Power Gear installed by Dr. Wily and throws enormous bombs with tremendous explosive force, as though embodying his swelling appetite for explosions.

Fuse Man

A robot built to manage electrical installations and handle high-voltage current, Fuse Man is taciturn and constantly on edge. He can manipulate high-voltage current freely and move at lightning speed, instantly circling into Mega Man’s blind spot before firing high-voltage electrical projectiles.

Once the Speed Gear installed by Wily activates, his movement exceeds its limits. Wrapped in electric current, Fuse Man himself becomes a bolt of lightning and attacks Mega Man.

Block Man

A robot built for exterior construction work, Block Man is small but fiercely competitive and quick to fight. He runs about noisily, continually creating blocks and raining them down on Mega Man’s head.

When cornered, he uses the Power Gear given to him by Dr. Wily to cover his small body in blocks and transform into a giant robot. In this enormous form, he relies on his great size and attacks with brute force.
