Enter the New World, alive with countless forms of life
We have been waiting for this world.
Hunters arrive as members of the Research Commission on an unknown continent called the New World.
In this land of rich ecosystems, use monster tracks as clues to open up the world. A new world of hunting unfolds as you make use of every part of its densely interconnected environment: weapons and armour, creatures, plants and terrain.
Wildspire Waste
This wasteland combines extensive dry regions with marshes fed by an ancient tree. Huge anthills rise across its sandy areas, while colourful plants grow thickly around the water.
Creatures adapted to each environment gather in this land with two distinct faces.
Vast dry regions: this landscape is lined with immense anthills. Its expanses of sand convey the harshness of the environment.
Wasteland interspersed with marshes: its creatures gather in search of plants and water, and large monsters live here to prey upon them.
Monster introductions
Jyuratodus
A large piscine wyvern living in the marshes of the Wildspire Waste. It uses mud to catch prey and protect itself, and sometimes fights other monsters over territory. It is also known as the Mud Fish Wyvern.
Its territory is the swamp, where its ability to use the terrain for swift movement makes it a threat. It corners its prey with mud-based attacks.
Barroth
This monster roams in search of its favourite food, ants, while marking its territory with mud. It attacks intruders with the charging assault it excels at. It is also known as the Earth and Sand Wyvern.
Besides coating its body in mud, it appears to use mud offensively by scattering it.
Kulu-Ya-Ku
A bird wyvern that uses its well-developed forelimbs skilfully to hold objects. It is frequently seen stealing monster eggs from places such as the Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste and carrying them away.
It is also dexterous enough to defend itself with a rock held in its forelimbs.
Noios
A wingdrake that reacts to stimulation by producing an explosive sound. It is often seen gathering in flocks, but...
Mernos
A wingdrake that enjoys eating nuts such as Scatternuts.
When startled, the flock moves over a large distance. If you can successfully hang on, it can help you travel a long way.
Other elements
Wedge Beetles
Wedge Beetles shine at particular locations in the field.
The Slinger is a new standard piece of hunter equipment that can be used with your weapon sheathed. Aim it at a glowing Wedge Beetle and fire to launch a rope, catch onto it and move.
Palicoes
These reassuring companions support the player. They are Lynians able to understand human speech, showing a variety of lifelike, endearing expressions.
