What is Ray’z Arcade Chronology?
This collection brings together the trilogy of arcade vertical-scrolling shooting games: RayForce, whose arcade operation began in 1994, and its series successors RayStorm and RayCrisis.
The key visual is a newly drawn illustration by Atsushi Iwata, who was responsible for the mechanical designs in RayStorm.
Three titles, five versions
RayForce
The first vertical-scrolling shooting game in the series began arcade operation in 1994.
Its distinctive system lets you sweep away enemies with a lock-on laser, winning it popularity. Its characteristic background music, composed by TAMAYO, is among the reasons it still has many fans.
RayStorm
The second game in the Ray series began arcade operation in 1996.
It became popular for its numerous fast-paced sequences making full use of 3D computer graphics, and for its beautiful visuals.
RayStorm NEO-HD
A high-definition version of the arcade edition of RayStorm.
RayCrisis
The final game in the trilogy began arcade operation in 1998.
RayCrisis HD
A high-definition version of the arcade edition of RayCrisis.
RayForce is a 2D shooting game, so it has no HD version in this collection.
Special Edition physical contents
This Special Edition was created for the game's launch with a newly recorded special live performance on Blu-ray and CD, a reference book, a strategy guide, reproduced instruction cards and reproduced leaflets.
Ray’z Music Live - STRAHL
A special, one-night-only live stage devoted to the Ray series, performed by BETTA FLASH—the unit formed by TAMAYO and Cyua—together with ZUNTATA and COSIO, is recorded on Blu-ray and a two-disc audio CD set.
The CDs also contain a newly written piece by TAMAYO as a bonus track.
Ray’z Orbital Operation Overview
The 128-page reference book was announced with reprinted developer roundtable discussions for the titles in Ray’z Arcade Chronology and valuable development material being revealed for the first time in this collection.
Ray’z Mission Maneuver Manual
The 48-page strategy guide covers RayForce, RayStorm and RayCrisis, including explanations of strategies by top players.
Reproduced arcade documents
Five types of instruction cards and three types of leaflets reproduce the original documents for the titles in Ray’z Arcade Chronology.
For this Used edition, the presence and condition of the presentation box, Blu-ray, CDs, books, instruction cards, leaflets and other physical accessories depend on the individual copy.
