An evolution beyond your imagination brings a richer, more varied drama of heroes. Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII was developed for the series’ thirtieth anniversary around the concept of a flourishing drama of outstanding heroes. Its well-received officer-play system lets you live in the Three Kingdoms world as one of those heroes.

This edition adds numerous features, allowing you to explore the heroes’ lives more deeply and freely. The range of actions available from your character’s perspective expands greatly. Strategic maneuvering of armies is enhanced, while battles make greater use of terrain, bringing a comprehensive Three Kingdoms experience.

Prestige expands your way of life

Acquire Prestige through achievements as an officer and adopt a title to unlock new possibilities. Life outside a faction becomes richer: as a wandering knight, lead private soldiers and spread your martial reputation across China; as a merchant, invest your accumulated personal wealth to support a faction of your choice.

Once in service, work toward unifying China through varied roles, such as a strategist skilled at winning people’s hearts or a general adept at managing armies. Officer play evolves across every rank and position, allowing you to leave your own chosen way of life in the Three Kingdoms world.

Strategic key points and distinctive ruler policies

Settlements and locations across the continent serve as strategic key points. Build forts with various functions to turn them into essential positions. Strategy now requires planning where to defend and where to attack across the whole faction, beyond merely winning local battles.

Ruler policies express each leader’s strategic approach, giving the rulers’ personalities greater influence on their factions’ actions.

War councils and terrain-based tactics

War councils introduce debates over tactics among strategists using their knowledge and judgment. In battle, quickly secure tactical locations at important terrain such as mountains, forests and camps to employ actions including rockfalls and ambushes.

Battlefields are four times the scale of the previous game, creating new battles in which the heroes range freely across the terrain.

The series’ largest expansion

One hundred new officers bring the playable total to 800. More than 300 events involving marriage, childrearing, disasters, other peoples and wandering armies deepen the sense of living in the Three Kingdoms world.

New scenarios include the later Three Kingdoms period, while expanded Hero Mode stages let you relive its stories and learn the new features.

Editing tools include historical-officer editing and faction editing. The series’ first Event Editor lets you freely create your own human drama.
