PlayStation 4 Samurai Warriors 5

A new Samurai Warriors begins

Samurai Warriors 5 combines historical drama with exhilarating action in the series' first new numbered entry in seven years. It opens a new chapter with a completely renewed story, characters and visual presentation.

The game reimagines the era depicted in the original Samurai Warriors, released in 2004, with substantially evolved visuals, compelling warriors including new additions to the cast, and even more satisfying action.

The turbulent Sengoku era through Nobunaga and Mitsuhide's eyes

The story follows the Sengoku period from the aftermath of the Onin War to the Honnoji Incident, concentrating on the lives of two leading figures: Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide, the warrior who brought him down.

Experience a new interpretation of this turbulent age, including Nobunaga's younger years, which earlier games had not depicted, his meeting with Mitsuhide, fierce struggles with the warriors surrounding the Oda family, and the events that lead to Honnoji.

Two stories unfold from Nobunaga's and Mitsuhide's respective perspectives. Their paths interweave in complex ways to create a dramatic portrait of the Sengoku era that differs from previous entries, portraying it in greater depth and with a bolder approach.

Redesigned heroes and new warriors

The warriors who bring the story to life have been redesigned to match its new setting in the early Sengoku period. Familiar figures including Tokugawa Ieyasu, Hashiba Hideyoshi, Nohime and Imagawa Yoshimoto receive new designs.

See a young Ieyasu and a fresh interpretation of Yoshimoto, celebrated as the greatest archer in the Tokai region. New participants include Mitsuhide's retainer Saito Toshimitsu and the original character Mitsuki. A total of 27 playable Musou warriors enrich the historical drama.

Exhilarating action and battlefield strategy

The series' defining pleasure of sending enemy soldiers flying remains intact. New actions and refreshed depictions of battlefields, characters and effects make combat even more exhilarating and elegant.

The visual presentation draws on a distinctly Japanese aesthetic, including imagery that resembles ink paintings and lends colour to battle scenes and battlefields.

The returning Musou Frenzy attacks evolve with sequences that incorporate beautiful illustrations, combining the force of Musou combat with an elegant presentation.

As the historical era advances, enemy soldiers devise and employ different tactics to stand in your way. Reading these tactics and finding a way to break through them adds another layer of strategy to the action.

Oda Nobunaga

Voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki, Nobunaga is the young head of the Oda family. His arrogant manner and free-spirited, unconventional behaviour earned him the name “the Fool of Owari”. Through encounters and partings, he takes his first steps towards breaking the established order of this troubled age and remaking the realm.

Akechi Mitsuhide

Voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa, Mitsuhide serves the Saito family. Serious and firm in his convictions, he is so stubborn that Nobunaga teases him as a blockhead. An event prompts him to begin searching for what his own strength should mean.

Nohime

Voiced by Yukiyo Fujii, Nohime is the daughter of Saito Dosan, known as “the Viper”. A beautiful woman with a somewhat detached air, she marries Nobunaga at her father's wish. At first she shows no interest in him and does not open her heart, but this gradually changes.
