Emotion versus reason

A new mainline adventure long awaited by Tales of fans further strengthens the series’ three defining attractions: characters, story and battle.

The story follows Velvet, the series’ first solo female protagonist, on a profound journey of revenge in a majestic world. Many distinctive, appealing characters were designed by four artists: Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura and Minoru Iwamoto. An accomplished voice cast brings the characters to life and makes the story more dramatic.

Built around the theme of “emotion versus reason,” the story is substantial, grand and easy to follow. It retains the series’ characteristic approach of moving beyond a simple tale of good defeating evil, placing importance on coexistence and telling a story true to Tales of.

Liberation Linear Motion Battle System

The action-oriented battles familiar from the series return with a new system offering greater exhilaration and strategy. Liberation-LMBS frees the camera and characters from previous movement restrictions, providing a high degree of freedom in control and technique.

Characters use free-running controls and a freely operated camera. Techniques are assigned to four buttons, allowing unrestricted attacks. Players who find battles difficult can enjoy them with one button, while experienced players can combine their skills with strategies that turn the battle in their favor.

The game also includes beautiful animation by ufotable.
