Touhou Project Compile Heart

A battle for Spell Cards begins in Gensokyo

Thirty days of bullet-hell battles begin! Touhou Spell Carnival combines the distinctive danmaku shooting of Touhou with tactical RPG combat. Enjoy its story, develop your characters and fight using spells and grazing to evade incoming bullets. A total of twenty characters are playable.

The story behind a thirty-day festival

Gensokyo is a land inhabited by humans, youkai and other beings, separated from the outside world by a barrier. One day, Hakurei Shrine's maiden Reimu Hakurei sees mysterious pillars standing throughout Gensokyo.

The pillars signal the start of a festival organised by Yukari Yakumo: the Spell Carnival, where participants fight with their own Spell Cards at stake. Reimu joins the contest to discover Yukari's true intentions in suddenly starting the event. What ending awaits as she approaches the truth hidden behind this thirty-day festival?

Bullet-hell shooting meets tactical RPG strategy

Fight intense danmaku battles on stages divided into a grid. Adapt to plentiful stage mechanisms and constantly changing bullet patterns. Familiar Touhou Project elements—including grazing, bombs and Spell Cards—have been adapted to this game's style. Master them all to win the carnival.

Trump-card Spell Cards reinterpret the atmosphere of Touhou's bullet patterns to sweep enemies away. Slip skilfully through barrages by grazing and unleash a bomb attack that can turn the battle around in a single strike.

Your choices shape the stages and your party

The stages branch according to your decisions. The opponents you challenge change which characters become your companions and which events occur. Build your ideal party and win the contest for Spell Cards.

Twenty popular characters, all newly illustrated

Popular characters from the original Touhou games gather here, including highly ranked favourites from popularity polls. Twenty characters from across the series are playable, each with a new design drawn for this game. During battle, control their cute, stylised forms.

Meet your companions at Hakurei Shrine

Interact with recruited characters at your base, Hakurei Shrine. Enjoy individual side events, the exchanges between characters and side stories filled with their distinctive charm.

Recreate bullet-hell play in Photo Mode

Combine bullet patterns and effects to stage your own danmaku scenes. Use Photo Mode to capture your personal best shot.

New arrangements and a substantial original soundtrack

Popular music from the original games has been freshly arranged for Touhou Spell Carnival. Twenty arrangements draw on the original background music associated with the featured characters. Regular battle and story scenes also feature newly composed tracks, creating a substantial musical selection.
