Revue Starlight Anime

A stage I thought I had performed. Yet it is a stage I do not know. Revue Starlight Rondo Rondo Rondo re-creates the story of the acclaimed television anime broadcast in 2018. Nine Stage Girls attend Seisho Music Academy, one of Japan's leading theater schools, with dreams of becoming stage actresses. To win the position of Top Star, they enter mysterious auditions and fight battles called revues.

The compilation revisits treasured scenes, adds new footage and approaches the story from a new angle.

Nana Daiba is student number fifteen in Seisho Music Academy's ninety-ninth class. In middle school she was the sole member of the drama club, living in loneliness. At the academy she first learns the true joy of creating a stage production. Her classmates are comrades who reach for the same stage and join hands together.

When the curtain falls, the applause surges and fulfillment makes her tremble. Their brilliance is like a burning jewel. She wants once again to live the happy days that shine like a rainbow. Captivated by that radiance, Nana joins the mysterious auditions hosted by the Giraffe. After passing, she asks the Stage of Destiny to repeat the ninety-ninth Seisho Festival and the entire year surrounding it. Very well, comes the reply.

That year begins again. Nana pours every ounce of her newly blossomed talent into reproducing those dazzling days. But she does not yet know that no two stages are exactly alike, or that no stage lasts forever. Beyond these repeating performances, the curtain rises on a circling rondo. A stage I thought I had performed, yet one I do not know. That is Rondo Rondo Rondo. I understand.

The set includes an eighty-page design-material collection and a bonus CD containing a new song by Starlight Kuku Gumi. It features an anime-illustrated three-sided box and a digipack jacket illustrated by Mebachi. Video extras include the two countdown specials broadcast immediately before the theatrical opening, the new theatrical film's teaser shown with the compilation, and the compilation trailers released in November 2019 and July 2020.

The cast features Momoyo Koyama as Karen Aijo, Suzuko Mimori as Hikari Kagura, Maho Tomita as Maya Tendo, Hinata Sato as Junna Hoshimi, Haruki Iwata as Mahiru Tsuyuzaki, Moeka Koizumi as Nana Daiba, Aina Aiba as Claudine Saijo, Teru Ikuta as Futaba Isurugi and Ayasa Ito as Kaoruko Hanayagi.
