Sanpei the Fisher Boy Vol.1 Blu-ray

The television anime based on the legendary fishing manga, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine for ten years, returns in high-quality Blu-ray to celebrate the original manga's fiftieth anniversary!

Sanpei Mihira is a cheerful boy who lives in a Tohoku mountain village with his grandfather Ippei, renowned as a master fisherman. Sanpei seems an ordinary boy, but is actually a fishing genius with talent inherited from his grandfather. One day he challenges Sazen Iwana, a one-eyed char living in the gorge called Yonakidani. Here begins young Sanpei's struggle, pouring his passion into fishing in seas, rivers and lakes alike!

Volume 1 contains episodes 1–53. Because the original film for episode 51's ending could not be located, that ending alone is taken from the sole surviving standard-definition source. The voice cast features Masako Nozawa, Nachi Nozawa, Fuyumi Shiraishi, Keiko Yamamoto and Kohei Miyauchi, among others. An instruction leaflet is enclosed. Specifications may change.

The two region-free Blu-rays contain approximately 1,305 minutes of main episodes, presented in the original 4:3 image. Japanese monaural audio is supplied without subtitles; the source does not specify the audio codec.
