Shikkokuten Movie and Stage Blu-ray Set

A special set brings together the film Shikkokuten: Tsui no Katari and the stage production Shikkokuten: Hajime no Katari! This is the third instalment of Mubi × Sute, an ambitious fusion of movies and theatre. A mystery period drama, it follows a man who has lost his memory: who is he, why is someone trying to kill him, and what is his extraordinary strength for? An imaginative period noir unfolds around this one man.

Film story: “Have you ever seen me in this town…?” A man dressed in rags appears in Edo. By chance, he rescues a petty thief named Kita. As thanks for saving her, Kita gives the amnesiac man the name Nameless and begins looking for clues to his identity, drawing in the kyogen playwright Genma and the thug brothers of the Ouma family.

What they currently know about Nameless is that mysterious swordsmen seem to be hunting him. Each time, he apparently defeats them with overwhelming swordsmanship. He cannot remember why he is so strong. But when he hears the name of the Hikage Party, a gang said to have committed every kind of crime in town, the single memory that remains returns to him: the final moments of someone he loved.

At the same time, the officers Kurama and Saratsuki are preparing to put a certain plan into action. The memory of a loved one’s death, extraordinary skill with a sword and mysterious assassins pursuing his life… There is clearly something about this man.

Stage story: I feared that dream because it did not feel like a dream—

The wars have ended and Tokugawa rule has only just begun in Edo. Yonosuke Unai, master of the Unai dojo, seeks a form of swordsmanship that gives life to people in this new era. He spends peaceful days with his family and pupils. One day, while training with his close friend Kurachika Kada, who runs another dojo, the brothers Jirota and Saburota Ouma arrive, asking to become his pupils for a particular reason.

At the same time, the gang known as the Hikage Party is disturbing Edo. The townspeople fear its crimes, calling them the Hikage Incident. As news of the gang’s reputation reaches Yonosuke, officer Shido Kurama summons the masters of the town’s dojos. It is an invitation to join a force assembled to defeat the Hikage Party.

This stage production tells the beginning of the story of Nameless, a prequel to the film Shikkokuten: Tsui no Katari. The film opened in June 2022 and the stage production ran from August to September 2022.

The release also includes trailers and promotional footage. Product specifications may change without notice.
