Shippu! Iron Leaguer Blu-ray Box

Let the match begin, fair and square!

Celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of its television broadcast, Shippu! Iron Leaguer arrives in the Blu-ray box edition fans have been waiting for. This original animation broke new ground in robot anime through an unlikely combination: robots and passionate sports drama. Its approachable, three-head-tall robots have distinctive designs and personalities reflecting their specialist sports. Their stories of joy, sorrow, doubts and growth through sport won many devoted fans. The remastered presentation preserves the emotion of the original broadcasts while bringing renewed visual clarity.

In the near future, robots work alongside humans as their neighbours. The Iron League, in which robots called Iron Leaguers compete in a variety of sports, has become immensely popular. But the huge Dark organisation controls the league, and underhanded rough play has become commonplace.

Disgusted by this trend, Dark’s star football player Mach Windy walks out on his team. At the invitation of the mysterious baseball player Magnum Ace, he joins the struggling Silver Castle team. Their insistence on fair play has kept Silver Castle permanently at the bottom of the league, but the efforts of Magnum Ace and Mach Windy, fired by a passionate sense of justice, gradually begin to change the Iron League itself.

The box features a newly illustrated slipcase and inner jackets. Its special booklet introduces the characters and includes setting materials, idea sketches and newly recorded interviews with members of the cast and production team.

Newly recorded audio commentaries accompany selected episodes. Video extras include television and home-video compilation features, a special movie about the Chogokin Iron Leaguer project, a video-original opening sequence, original karaoke material, creditless opening and ending sequences, television commercials, previews and a comparison of the original and remastered presentation. Product specifications and bonus contents may change.
