SHIROBAKO The Movie Regular Edition Blu-ray
劇場版 SHIROBAKO 通常版
We will not give up, until the day we keep our promise. SHIROBAKO, the hugely popular 2014 television anime that realistically portrayed everyday life and the inner workings of the animation industry, finally becomes a feature film in response to the many requests for a sequel.
In the video industry, shirobako means a videotape in a white box: the first tangible result that creators can hold when a production is complete. The television anime SHIROBAKO openly depicted the industry's daily life and actual conditions, embracing its good and bad, sometimes gently and sometimes harshly.
Creative work brings conflict and frustration; working together brings solidarity and clashes. There is the pain of creating, a schedule with no options left, and the irreplaceable release and fulfillment beyond it, followed by hurt and despair when confronted with the gap between ideals and reality. Yet these appealing characters confront animation production head-on to realize their dreams and advance even a little beyond who they were yesterday.
Their ensemble story struck a chord with people of all ages and generations, becoming a much-discussed work, even, oddly enough, within the industry itself. Now, answering the many calls for a sequel, the stage moves to the cinema and the curtain rises on the long-awaited new SHIROBAKO film.
The five members of Kaminoyama High School's animation club made a pledge over doughnuts from Hyotanya: one day, by any means necessary, they would create an animated work together. After graduation, each begins working in animation in her own place.
Following her production work on Exodus! and The Third Aerial Girls Squad, Aoi Miyamori gradually approaches that dream and begins to consider what she truly wants to do. Four years have passed. While struggling with her daily work, Aoi is called aside by Watanabe after the morning meeting and entrusted with a new theatrical-animation project.
But the project has an unexpected pitfall. Can the company, in its current state, manage a feature film? Aoi feels anxious. Working with new colleague Kaede Miyai and the Musashino Animation team, she sets the production in motion. Will they deliver the film in time?
This regular edition includes the theatrical feature, audio commentary by Juri Kimura, Yuri Yamaoka and Yusuke Kobayashi, a teaser, trailers including the main trailer, a promotional video released after the theatrical opening, and the re-screening commercial. It comes with an outer sleeve case and a special leaflet.
The cast features Juri Kimura as Aoi Miyamori, Haruka Yoshimura as Ema Yasuhara, Haruka Chisuga as Shizuka Sakaki, Asami Takano as Misa Todo, Hitomi Owada as Midori Imai, Ayane Sakura as Kaede Miyai, Yuri Yamaoka as Erika Yano, Ikumi Hayama as Tsubaki Ando, Madoka Yonezawa as Sara Sato, Shiori Izawa as Ai Kunogi, Atsushi Tamaru as Kyuji Takahashi, Masaya Matsukaze as Shun Watanabe, Mai Nakahara as Yuka Okitsu, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Taro Takanashi, Yusuke Kobayashi as Daisuke Hiraoka, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Seiichi Kinoshita and Nobuyuki Kobushi as Gotaro Katsuragi.
