Smells Like Green Spirit Blu-ray Box

Set in an isolated, closed-off rural community during the Heisei era, this delicate coming-of-age story follows a boy discovering his identity and the boys around him over the course of one summer.

Fresh, youthful performances unfold against lush green scenery, alongside an unsettling portrayal of a troubled man.

Futoshi Mishima stands out in his class and is bullied for his long hair, yet offers no resistance. His only emotional refuge is his secret daily routine of putting on his mother's lipstick and wearing her clothes. Makoto Kirino, who suppresses his true self, leads the group that bullies Mishima. One day, he tries putting Mishima's lost lipstick on his own lips. Taro Yumeno, a basketball-club member and the class's lively mood-maker, is unusually harsh toward Mishima. The social-studies teacher Yanagida has transferred from the city to this closed-off countryside and seems to have a troubled past of his own.

In the remote countryside of the Heisei era, student Futoshi Mishima is bullied by a group led by his basketball-playing classmate Makoto Kirino because of his long hair and delicate manner. Unable to fight back, Mishima secretly puts on lipstick and women's clothes, drawing comfort from his daily transformation into a cute version of himself.

Then, one day on the school rooftop, he sees Kirino trying to apply the lipstick he had previously lost to his own lips.

Kirino hides his true self as he goes through school life. Yumeno, another member of the bullying group, is harsh toward Mishima for reasons he cannot explain. The newly appointed teacher Yanagida takes an excessive interest in him. As Mishima begins to understand his own identity, the feelings Kirino, Yumeno and Yanagida have kept hidden gradually come to light.

Their delicate summer story begins as they search for somewhere in this world where they can be their true selves.
