Sound! Euphonium Animation

Music and youth enter their final chapter in Sound! Euphonium 3. Since its television debut in 2015, the series has portrayed life in a high-school concert band. Now president of Kitauji High School’s band of more than ninety members, Kumiko Oumae races through her final year of club activities, determined to secure the gold medal at the national competition.

Spring brings expectations and uncertainty. Who will the new members be? Can Kumiko bring everyone together as president, and can the band finally reach its long-awaited goal? While she works tirelessly to answer those questions, she encounters a formidable challenge as a musician: Mayu Kuroe, a transfer student from a school that regularly competes at the nationals. Mayu plays the same instrument as Kumiko—the euphonium—and seems to have everything: a beautiful tone, outstanding technique and a gentle personality that draws others to her.

Yet the shadows Kumiko occasionally glimpses beneath Mayu’s composure leave her with feelings she cannot quite describe. Mayu suggests that a school club is hardly something worth clinging to at any cost. As graduation approaches, how will Kumiko respond to her? With a call to her fellow musicians, her last year of high school begins.

This volume includes episodes 4 and 5 and Extra Episode 2, Cute Dolce. Ririka and Kanade appear to be enjoying a meal together, but Kanade is inexplicably unhappy. When Ririka asks why, Kanade replies that band practice has become boring. Additional features include web previews, unused footage from the main series, making-of footage, an April Fools’ video, and cast and staff commentaries.
