The Dangers in My Heart Anime

Kyotaro Ichikawa retreats into grandiose, gloomy fantasies, but his classmate Anna Yamada keeps breaking through them. When she starts visiting the library he regards as his refuge, he discovers a girl who stuffs her mouth with rice balls, hums to herself and behaves with disarming unpredictability. His fascination gradually becomes a first love that is tender, awkward and often very funny. This six-disc set brings together all 25 episodes of the first two television seasons, broadcast from April 2023 and January 2024, tracing the slow approach of two very different hearts.

Norio Sakurai's manga is adapted by director Hiroaki Akagi, series writer Jukki Hanada and character designer Masato Katsumata, with music by Kensuke Ushio and animation by Shin-Ei Animation. Shun Horie voices Kyotaro and Hina Yomiya voices Anna. The ensemble includes Ayaka Asai as Chihiro Kobayashi, Megumi Han as Moeko Sekine, Atsumi Tanezaki as Serina Yoshida, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Sho Adachi, Gen Sato as Kenta Kanzaki, Jun Fukushima as Chikara Ota, Aki Toyosaki as Honoka Hara, Yukari Tamura as Kana Ichikawa and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Haruya Nanjo. Jun Fukuyama plays Imaginary Kyotaro, Yuka Iguchi plays Kanna Ando, Reina Ueda plays Yurine Hanzawa and Yoshimasa Hosoya voices Anna's father.

Disc one includes the first season's textless opening and ending sequences and the pre-broadcast AnimeJapan special stage, plus Horie and Yomiya's commentary on episode one. Disc two adds promotional videos and commercials, web previews for episodes one through six, Yamada's ASMR and the pair's episode-six commentary. Disc three continues the web previews through episode twelve, alongside the four-minute series overview, the second-season announcement video and their episode-twelve commentary.

Disc four contains Tsuyaba, the second season's textless opening and ending, web previews for episodes thirteen through sixteen and the first-season recap. Megumi Han joins Horie and Yomiya for the episode-fifteen commentary. Disc five brings together promotional videos and commercials, web previews for episodes seventeen through twenty and the theatrical-film announcement video, with Atsumi Tanezaki joining the leads for episode eighteen.

Disc six completes the web previews with episodes twenty-one through twenty-five and includes the special stage held on March 24, 2024, before the finale. Horie and Yomiya are joined by Ayaka Asai for the episode-twenty-four commentary and by Nobuhiko Okamoto for episode twenty-three, while the two leads share a separate commentary on episode twenty-five.

The set is housed in a slipcase illustrated by Sakurai and a digipack illustrated by Katsumata. Its special booklet contains newly drawn Sakurai manga and opening and ending storyboards, accompanied by a set of three SD-character stickers.
