THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Animation

Small in stature, but still idols! The little girls of U149 keep moving towards their dream of becoming idols. Joining them is a rookie producer whose enthusiasm is his greatest asset. A new story emerges from THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls.

A new television anime based on Cinderella Girls joins THE IDOLM@STER series. The app game THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage surpassed twelve million downloads on March 11, 2016, six months after its release, and the original anime presentation reported more than twenty-five million downloads. The original U149 comic was serialised every Saturday on the Cycomi manga service for smartphones and computers.

U149 means under 149 centimetres tall. The story realistically follows girls who face the worries of childhood while aspiring to become accomplished idols, together with the small producer who supports them. It can also be enjoyed as an anime about the working world. Koharu Koga gains her voice for the first time in this production, which also introduces many original anime songs.

Alongside the U149 members, other Cinderella Girls idols appear one after another, giving fans of the wider series plenty to enjoy. The original broadcast presentation announced real-time links with the game, bringing the anime, game and comic together for their respective fans.

One afternoon during the summer holidays, Arisu finds herself in a room at a talent agency. There she meets eight girls whose school years and personalities could hardly be more different. The room is called the Third Entertainment Division. In this small, dusty room, the little girls dream: this is where my story as an idol begins.

Then a producer appears, as wonderful as a prince! Or rather, a small young man who has only just become a producer. The enthusiastic newcomer and the girls, for whom everything still lies ahead, wonder why work has to be so difficult. They worry, laugh again the next day, and climb the steps hand in hand. Will Arisu and the others reach the stage they once dreamed of? A new story emerges from THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. Hey, what shall we be when we grow up?

Additional material includes creditless opening and ending footage, online previews for the next episodes, promotional videos and an audio commentary.
