The Idolmaster Animation

Even little girls can be idols! Girls under 149 centimetres tall keep moving towards their dream of becoming idols. Joining them is a rookie producer whose enthusiasm is his strongest asset. A new story is born from THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls.

The Idolmaster series brings a new television anime based on Cinderella Girls. At the time of the original release announcement, the mobile game Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage had surpassed twenty-five million downloads, having reached twelve million on March 11, 2016, six months after launch. The original U149 comic was serialised every Saturday on Cycomi, the manga service for smartphones and computers.

U149 means under 149 centimetres in height. The story realistically portrays the growth of girls who face worries because they are young but aspire to become accomplished idols, and the small producer who supports them. It can also be enjoyed as an anime about the world of work. Koharu Koga receives her first voiced portrayal in this production, which also features many original anime songs.

Alongside the U149 members, other Cinderella Girls idols appear one after another, making this a series Idolmaster fans can enjoy. During the original anime broadcast, real-time game tie-ins were planned to connect the anime, game and comic for fans of all three.

One summer afternoon, Arisu finds herself in a room at a talent agency. There she meets eight girls whose school years and personalities are completely different. The room is called the Third Entertainment Division. In this small, dusty room, the little girls, all under 149 centimetres tall, dream of their futures. “This is where my story as an idol begins,” she thinks.

Then a wonderful producer, just like a prince, appears! Or rather, it is a small young man who has only just become a producer. An enthusiastic newcomer and girls for whom everything still lies ahead: they worry about why work is so difficult, laugh again the next day and climb the stairs hand in hand. Will Arisu and her friends reach the dream stage they once imagined?

A new story is born from THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. “Hey, what shall we become when we grow up?”

This second volume features a newly illustrated jacket, newly written audio dramas and voice dramas featuring the U149 members that were played at the anime advance screenings on April 1 and 2. It also includes a booklet containing a bonus manga, interchangeable jacket cards that let you display your favourite idol, textless ending footage, web previews and audio commentary.

The original edition also includes bonus items for Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage, with an additional costume reward available through all volumes. Redemption is subject to the publisher’s conditions and reception may end without notice. Bonus content and product specifications may change.
