Story High-school student Naotatsu is going to stay at his uncle Shigemichi's home so he can commute to school. In the pouring rain, however, the person who comes to meet him at the nearest station is an adult woman he has never met: Ms. Sakaki. To his surprise, she takes him to a shared house. The residents are an eccentric group of five men and women:26-year-old office worker Ms. Sakaki, who always seems grumpy but occasionally cooks delicious food on a whim; his uncle Shigemichi, a manga artist who left salaried employment and is known as Nigemichi; Izumiya, a fortune teller who dresses as a woman; and Naruse, a university professor who wanders abroad. Naotatsu's classmate Kaede, Izumiya's younger sister, also begins visiting the house after a rescued cat called Mr. Moonlight, affectionately Muu, brings her there. An unexpected communal life begins. Naotatsu starts to develop a gentle crush on Ms. Sakaki, who spends her days quietly. But she declares that she will not fall in love, and an unimaginable connection between their pasts comes to light. What is the real reason she gave up on romance?
