Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Live-Action Blu-ray
TV 実写 岸辺露伴は動かない
Rohan Kishibe's profession is manga artist. He possesses a special ability unknown to everyone else. Heaven's Door! Now the door to the heart opens, as Rohan encounters a succession of strange incidents.
This drama is the first live-action adaptation of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, the acclaimed spin-off manga from Hirohiko Araki's hit JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Heaven's Door allows Rohan to turn another person into a book, read their life story and secrets, and write instructions into its pages. Armed with this special ability, the manga artist confronts the peculiar cases that come his way.
Disc one contains the first two episodes. In Millionaire Village, mansions stand deep in the mountains, isolated from the surrounding world. Every owner is a wealthy success in their field, and all are said to have acquired land in the village and achieved success while still in their twenties. Apparently, however, prospective buyers must satisfy a certain condition before they are allowed to purchase. To discover the truth, Rohan visits the village with his editor, Kyoka Izumi. The strange test they face concerns manners. There is no tolerance in matters of etiquette: an action is either correct or incorrect.
In Kushagara, fellow manga artist Jugo Shishi brings Rohan an unusual problem. His editor has told him that the word kushagara is forbidden, but its meaning appears neither online nor in any dictionary. Being told not to use it only makes him want to use it. As if possessed, Jugo tries to discover what it means, until his mind and body begin to suffer. When Rohan uses Heaven's Door to turn him into a book, he finds a sealed section of pages. Something moves inside.
Disc two contains the third episode, D.N.A. Kyoka Izumi asks Rohan to use hypnosis to investigate the memory loss of Taro Hirai, the photographer she is dating. A celebrated photographer, Taro survived a traffic accident six years earlier but has been unable to return to ordinary life. While Kyoka introduces him to Rohan and they talk, Mai Katahira passes by carrying her daughter, Mao. As they cross paths, the girl catches Taro's sleeve and knocks him over. At that instant, Rohan senses something unusual about her.
The second disc also includes Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Production Notes. Interviews with lead actor Issey Takahashi and original creator Hirohiko Araki explore the production team's dedication to translating the manga's distinctive qualities into live action and reveal the drama's appeal. A collection of the cast's final moments on set features Issey Takahashi, Marie Iitoyo, Mirai Moriyama, Kumi Takiuchi, Tomoya Nakamura and others.
The cast features Issey Takahashi, Marie Iitoyo, Mirai Moriyama, Kumi Takiuchi and Tomoya Nakamura, among others. The three main episodes run 146 minutes, with 39 minutes of extras. A special twenty-page booklet is enclosed. The original first pressing also included a Kyoka Izumi Heaven's Door book in a Blu-ray bonus version, subject to availability of first-press copies.
