Toshiki Kadomatsu opens his Contemporary Urban Music series with Magic Hour - Lovers at Dusk, a project he describes as a final restart after forty-three years of making music. He leaves listeners to imagine what Contemporary Urban Music can mean, while shaping songs with the flavor of the 1970s and 1980s.
Under Kadomatsu's direction, veteran musicians who lived through those decades construct the music with painstaking craft. Younger players bring new talents to the sessions, creating exchanges that give studio recordings their particular character and value. Contemporary techniques and production methods refine the result.
The project expresses his commitment to studio work in an era that increasingly prizes live entertainment. Its eight songs move from Lovers at Dusk and Magic Hour through Paradise in your eyes to Kimi ni Ageru, holding onto the lovers' feelings that color dusk even as time passes.
