TRUMP Stage & Musicals

The latest work in the TRUMP series, which playwright Kenichi Suemitsu describes as his life's work, expands the world of TRUMP through the shared TRUMP series. For the first time in the series, Blu-ray and DVD editions are released simultaneously. The series celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2019. This new shared-world approach brings together six distinguished writers and Suemitsu in a short-story anthology, presenting the aimless journey of Lily, the protagonist of the second TRUMP work LILIUM, in two chapters, Uka and Hiyori, staged concurrently.

Hiyori marks Haraiichi comedy-duo member Yuki Iwai's first attempt at writing a theatrical script. The other chapter writers are Akira Kuzuki of the theater company Krommolybden and Rei Rairaku, a member of the writers' group GoRA, whose debut Kanashimi Chimera won the Gold Prize at the twelfth Dengeki Novel Prize and whose works include the anime K and Romeo no Sainan.

Stop, time, and grant you eternal beauty. It was a dream of an eternal cocoon stage. At the end and beginning of that eternal stage, the girl awoke from her dream and left the flower garden. The real world to which she returns will surely be a desolate wilderness. An aimless journey. A cocoon stage without end. Seeking the death she has lost. As she wanders, the girl repeatedly encounters others and parts from them. Fourteen actors and seven writers weave loneliness and madness into twelve stories.

The Hiyori cast comprises Riho Sayashi, Rio Uehara, MIO, YAE, Daiki Miyoshi, Yoshihiro Nakayama, Etsuko Niira and Romi Park. Ike Nwala, who was originally scheduled to appear in this chapter, was replaced by Daiki Miyoshi after contracting COVID-19.

A specially produced booklet and postcard are enclosed. The video extras include full-stage views of dance numbers from the final Tokyo performance: Eien no Tsumi, Eien no Batsu; La Vie en Noir - Kuro Sekai no Theme; Iitsutae no Kyuketsushu; Kodoku wa Eien o Shihai Suru; and Te o Tsunaide Nemutta. A digest of scenes that changed from day to day and curtain-call footage from the final Osaka performance are also included.
