Tulip Live!! Act Tulip 1976 HAKATA Remastered Reissue 3SHM-CD

Tulip returns to its hometown stage in Live!! Act Tulip 1976 HAKATA, the third release in the band's fiftieth-anniversary series. After debuting with Maho no Kiiroi Kutsu in 1972 and reaching number one with Kokoro no Tabi, the group helped establish Japanese-language pop rock by combining British-influenced music with Japanese feeling.

The recording captures the moment its audiences outgrew theaters and moved into arenas. Tulip played Sapporo's Makomanai Ice Arena on August 1, 1976, and Fukuoka's Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium on August 28. Both shows were recorded for Live!! Act Tulip Vol. 2, but that album drew mostly on Sapporo, leaving the Hakata tapes in storage.

The Hakata recordings appeared once with THE TULIP COMPLETE in 2008 before going out of print. Restored and remastered here, they preserve all thirty-three performed songs and the crowd between them across three SHM-CDs. A photo book and LP-size gatefold jacket accompany this homecoming performance.

Fourteen thousand people attended the two arena shows in total. The confidence of the band at this turning point comes through in Kazuo Zaitsu's encore declaration that Hakata is Hakata because Tulip is there, giving this hometown concert its subtitle.
