UFO Robo Grendizer Blu-ray Box Volume 1

UFO Robo Grendizer Blu-ray Box Volume 1 brings the first 37 episodes of Go Nagai's robot anime to Blu-ray in a negative-scanned HD remaster. The series shares the world of Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger, combining spectacular battles with the story of a refugee who must confront the forces that destroyed his home.

Daisuke Umon has been living peacefully at Shirakaba Ranch, concealing his identity as Duke Fleed, a prince who escaped his invaded planet aboard Grendizer. When the Vega forces establish their Skull Moon base on the far side of the Moon and turn their attacks on Earth, he can no longer remain hidden. Returning to Grendizer's cockpit, he fights alongside former Mazinger Z pilot Koji Kabuto and the people who have given him a new home. Encounters with figures from his past, including his childhood friend Naida, make that struggle deeply personal.

The five discs contain episodes 1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32 and 33-37 respectively, with 946 minutes of programme material. Kei Tomiyama and Hiroya Ishimaru lead the voice cast, while Shunsuke Kikuchi's music accompanies the battles and drama. A 20-page booklet and newly illustrated jacket by Kazuhiro Ochi complete this release.

The region-free set presents the animation in its original 4:3 composition at 1080p, with Japanese Linear PCM monaural audio. No subtitles are included.
