Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Animation

The world is coming. The Oguri Cap manga from the cross-media project Umamusume: Pretty Derby becomes an anime! Serialized in Weekly Young Jump, the manga has surpassed eight million copies in circulation. Forty years after the birth of the legendary racehorse that inspired its heroine, the excitement returns as Oguri Cap makes her debut at the regional Kasamatsu racecourse, races a succession of rivals and climbs toward the top. Her overwhelming running overturns expectations in a coming-of-age Cinderella story.

The unconventional regional talent has defeated powerful opponents on the central racing circuit and earned the name of the monster. Now Tamamo Cross, regarded as the strongest, stands in her path, while Umamusume from overseas bring the wider world to her doorstep. The gray-haired runner who will come to define an era steps into a new realm as her passionate racing story continues through episodes 14–16.

This volume includes an episode 15 commentary with Ayumi Hinohara, Kana Yuki and Yu Shimamura. Video extras comprise a five-minute recap of the first cour, the second cour’s clean opening and ending sequences, and web previews for episodes 14–16. A slipcase features new artwork by character designer Yosuke Fukumoto. The special booklet includes a collaboration article with sports magazine Number; an interview with director Takehiro Miura, assistant director Yudai Shimizu and action-animation supervisor Kengo Matsumoto; episode-by-episode production comments; animation design materials; and storyboards for the second-cour opening.
