裏アカ
Where is the real you? Reality and the internet, truth and lies, reason and desire: an intense human drama that asks what the real self means.
Machiko Ito manages an apparel shop in Aoyama, but her daily life leaves her feeling unfulfilled. Her opinions are ignored, a younger and charismatic shop assistant named Sayaka Shindo takes work away from her, and stress builds day after day. One day, a casual remark from Sayaka prompts Machiko to create a secret social-media account and post photographs of herself.
Taking pleasure in reactions that she could never receive in her public life, Machiko makes her posts increasingly provocative, and her number of followers grows in response. Invitations to meet in real life and to free herself further lead her to meet one of her followers, a younger man called Yuto. She is drawn to him because he seems to share her emotional emptiness. Their relationship, however, is supposed to happen only once. That was her agreement with Yuto.
Unable to meet him again, Machiko begins relationships with other men, but her heart remains unfulfilled. While her frustration grows in her private online world, her public life improves: her ideas to reverse the shop's poor sales are adopted, and a collaboration with a major department store is arranged. She throws herself into this rewarding project, only to discover that the department store's representative, Tsutomu Harashima, is Yuto himself.
The two meet again in their public lives. Harashima acts as though nothing has happened, while Machiko cannot conceal her turmoil. Her wish to see Yuto, rather than Harashima, grows stronger each day. Public and private, love and hatred, truth and lies, reason and desire collide violently. What ending will suddenly arrive for Machiko?
