Three rejected manga proposals leave Chika Suzugamori wondering where to turn next. Although she has already won a newcomer award, the university student's latest visit to her editor ends in disappointment. On impulse, she asks her social-media followers where she should travel. The unexpectedly enthusiastic response makes backing out difficult, but her wish to leave her familiar surroundings is real.

With destinations chosen by online polls and plans made as she goes, Chika begins discovering a different kind of inspiration. Sometimes she travels alone; sometimes friends join her. The detours, chance encounters and small discoveries are the point of Zatsu Tabi: That's Journey, an adaptation of Kenta Ishizaka's manga that finds room for curiosity outside a carefully planned itinerary.

Directed by Masaharu Watanabe and animated by Makaria, the series features Hika Tsukishiro as Chika, Sayumi Suzushiro as Koyomi Hasunuma and Sae Hiratsuka as Yui Unoki. Satomi Sato, Yoko Hikasa and Yu Kobayashi join the cast, with narration by Hitoshi Kubota. The character designs are by rere, with series composition by Yoshiko Nakamura and music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa.

Part 1 contains episodes 1-6, approximately 141 minutes of main programme, on one region-free Blu-ray with Japanese Linear PCM audio and no subtitles. Its permanent on-disc extras include the creditless opening, episode previews, promotional videos and the first part of a specially edited live-action travel feature following the cast. This box covers the first half of the series, not the complete twelve-episode run.
