A Couple of Cuckoos Animation

Lives and love cross paths! The hugely popular romantic comedy serialised in Weekly Shonen Magazine receives its long-awaited television anime adaptation.

A Couple of Cuckoos is the immensely popular manga currently serialised in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, from the creator of Flunk Punk Rumble and Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches. Its story follows a boy and girl who were switched at birth, become engaged and start living together. A classmate and a younger sister also join the romantic entanglement, creating a love quadrangle among four distinctive, appealing characters. The series captured readers’ hearts from the start and its collected volumes have been reprinted one after another. This leading romantic-comedy manga made its long-awaited television anime debut in April 2022!

Nagi Umino finds himself engaged to Erika and sharing a home with her. Erika Amano, his new housemate, is a wealthy young woman who is also well known on social media. Hiro Segawa is Nagi’s classmate, rival and the girl he has feelings for, while his younger sister Sachi Umino is rather attached to her brother.

High-school student Nagi Umino, who was switched at birth, is finally about to meet his biological parents. On that very day, he happens to encounter Erika Amano, a student at an elite girls’ school. At her request, he is more or less forced to pretend to be her boyfriend so she can prevent her arranged marriage. But these two are the very children who were switched—and they are already each other’s intended partners!

The parents, who love both their children, make Nagi and Erika’s engagement official between the two families, and the pair begin living together. Nagi is in love with his classmate Hiro Segawa, while Erika is rebelling against her father. Their agreed rule is to stay completely out of each other’s affairs. An awkward, chaotic romantic comedy of intersecting lives begins!

The mini-anime Kakkō no Iikagen, included as a permanent bonus from the fourth through eighth volumes, brings the adorable chibi characters to life as they move around. This concluding volume includes further instalments of the mini-anime and web previews.
