A painful experience has left former teacher Rei Hitoma distrustful of people and determined not to return to the classroom. Yet an advertisement seeking a teacher who cares about students draws him into an application, an interview and a new position at a secluded mountain school. There he discovers that his students are not human: they are girls from other species who hope to become human themselves.
A mermaid, a werewolf, a rabbit girl and a bird girl confront him with a question he can no longer avoid: what do they see in the humanity he has rejected? Their school life becomes a way for teacher and students to examine belonging, trust and the meaning of being human.
Volume 2 contains episodes 5-8 of the adaptation of Natsume Kurusu's story, with Toshiki Masuda, Sora Amamiya, Saori Onishi, Maria Naganawa and Yui Tanabe among the cast. The 94-minute programme is accompanied by a clean ending sequence and web previews. Japanese Linear PCM audio is presented without subtitles.
