A Whisker Away Blu-ray

Studio Colorido, the studio behind Penguin Highway, presents its second animated feature film. This coming-of-age fantasy unfolds through the world of cats as a girl discovers her true self. I have found the magic that lets me see you.

Miyo is a second-year middle-school student whose words and actions constantly surprise those around her. Her classmates call her Muge, short for Infinitely Mysterious Human. Yet behind that nickname, she spends each day suppressing her feelings around other people. She is deeply in love with her classmate Hinode. She approaches him boldly every day and refuses to give up even when he pays her no attention.

Muge has a special secret she cannot tell anyone: she turns into a cat to visit the Hinode she loves. The two are distant when she is human, but she can get close to him as a cat. Knowing the freedom of being a cat, without worrying about her relationships with others, she gradually finds it more and more comfortable. One day, however, she is pressed to give up being human and live as a cat.

I want to stay by your side forever. But then I will never be able to return to being myself. As she realizes who supports her and recognizes what truly matters, their two worlds begin to change.

The Blu-ray contains the 104-minute film and a promotional video collection with Welcome to the Cat World! and the first, second and third Real Cat videos. It comes in a newly designed three-sided outer case and includes a 44-page booklet featuring newly recorded staff interviews, original animation drawings, storyboards and other valuable production material.

The voice cast features Mirai Shida, Natsuki Hanae, Minako Kotobuki, Kensho Ono, Susumu Chiba, Ayako Kawasumi, Sayaka Ohara, Daisuke Namikawa, Hiroaki Ogi and Koichi Yamadera. Product specifications and design may change without notice.
