An no Koto Blu-ray

An no Koto Blu-ray follows a young woman's struggle to rebuild her life in a drama written and directed by Yu Irie, starring Yumi Kawai alongside Jiro Sato and Goro Inagaki. Inspired by a newspaper report about a real case in Japan, the film looks closely at people whose suffering can remain hidden from society.

At 21, An has endured years of violence at home and exploitation. While being questioned on suspicion of drug use, she meets Tatara, an unconventional detective who helps her find work and begins to earn the trust she has never been able to place in adults. His support seems to offer a way forward, but journalist Kirino is investigating allegations that Tatara has abused his position within a recovery group.

The arrival of the pandemic then strips away the fragile connections and sense of belonging An has gained. Isolated once again, she receives an unexpected request from a neighbour at the shelter where she is staying. The film brings together Kawai, Sato and Inagaki with Aoba Kawai, Yuriko Hirooka and Akari Hayami, tracing conflicting loyalties, vulnerability and the small moments that sustain a person's will to live.

This edition includes recorded stage greetings and appearances, making-of footage and a trailer collection. The approximately 113-minute feature is presented on one region-free Blu-ray in its 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Japanese accessibility subtitles.
