Entertainment about escaping reality, laying bare the urge to throw everything away and run. The original stage production And So I'm at a Loss, performed at Theatre Cocoon in 2018 and acclaimed in many quarters, is adapted for the cinema as writer-director Daisuke Miura and lead actor Taisuke Fujigaya reunite. Its Blu-ray and DVD editions were announced for August 9, 2023. The film was an official selection in the Gala Selection section of the thirty-fifth Tokyo International Film Festival. An ordinary man working casual jobs begins cutting off every kind of human relationship over the smallest of matters. After running, running and continuing to run, what awaits him? The exceptional writer-director Daisuke Miura continues to attract attention across different fields with provocative works that provoke both approval and criticism, including Love's Whirlpool and Call Boy. Taisuke Fujigaya of Kis-My-Ft 2 plays the protagonist Yuichi Sugawara, brilliantly embodying an irresponsible man who runs away as soon as things become awkward. Boldly overturning his previous image, he reveals new appeal as an actor. The distinctive, captivating ensemble includes Atsuko Maeda, Akiyoshi Nakao, Etsushi Toyokawa, Mieko Harada, Karina, Katsuya Maiguma and Shuhei Nomura. For the film's ending, Yoshiyuki Osawa himself sings a new arrangement of Soshite Boku wa Toho ni Kureru, the legendary song that became a major hit in 1984, leaving the story's lingering emotions imprinted on the audience. Its unpredictable story stirs sympathy and antipathy. The original promotion described it assympathy and antipathy; the exact disc specification confirms the main film.

Story Yuichi Sugawara, played by Taisuke Fujigaya, spends his days idly working casual jobs. After arguing over something trivial with Satomi, played by Atsuko Maeda, his long-term live-in girlfriend, he flees their home rather than discuss it. From that night, he moves between his best friend Shinji, played by Akiyoshi Nakao; Tamura, a senior colleague at his part-time workplace, played by Katsuya Maiguma; Kato, his junior from university, played by Shuhei Nomura; and his sister Kaori, played by Karina. Whenever things become awkward, he runs away again. Eventually he arrives at his family home in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, where his mother Tomoko, played by Mieko Harada, lives alone. But for some reason things become uncomfortable even with her, and he heads out into the snow-covered town. Without anywhere to go and at a loss, Yuichi unexpectedly meets his father Koji, played by Etsushi Toyokawa, for the first time in ten years. Koji had once run away from the family himself. "Do you want to come to my place?" Accepting his father's invitation, Yuichi finally switches off his smartphone and severs every human relationship, but...

Precious conversations reluctantly cut from the broadcast are restored in this version available here. Also included is the Taisuke Fujigaya interviewer project, in which Fujigaya used social media during the theatrical promotion to interview his co-stars Atsuko Maeda, Akiyoshi Nakao, Etsushi Toyokawa, Karina, Katsuya Maiguma and Shuhei Nomura. The original announcement states that the deluxe Blu-ray and deluxe DVD editions have the same contents, edition and visuals; the programme disc format differs. This listing is the deluxe Blu-ray edition with a bonus DVD. The Animate interview list contains an erroneous Nakagawa spelling; the confirmed cast member and other exact-edition sources identify Akiyoshi Nakao. Retailer-exclusive gifts are excluded.
