Assault Lily Animation

The Hitotsuyanagi Squad deploys! SHAFT’s television adaptation of the Assault Lily action-doll series follows a near-future Earth facing destruction by mysterious creatures called Huge. Humanity unites against them, combining science with the magical power of Magi to develop CHARM weapons. Training institutions known as Gardens are established around the world for the girls who wield them, the Lilies.

Riri Hitotsuyanagi wins a place as an alternate at the prestigious Yurigaoka Girls’ Academy and takes her first steps as a Lily fighting for humanity’s survival. She applied to follow Yuyu Shirai, who once saved her life. They meet on Riri’s first day, but Yuyu is somehow different from the person she remembers. The story of girls fighting with fleeting beauty begins to bloom.

Volume 1 presents episodes 1–3 in a special digipak and a storage box newly illustrated by animation character designer Mieko Hosoi, featuring Riri, Yuyu and Kaede, with a booklet and creditless opening and ending videos.

The bonus CD includes Edel Lilie, the television ending and the project’s familiar theme song, plus two unit songs from the Hitotsuyanagi Squad. The second-year pair Yuyu and Thi Mai sing Rainbow. Tsukiakari no Contrast pairs the bright, outgoing Riri with the quiet Tazusa, two girls whose personalities initially seem like opposites.
