Asuka Irie Art Collection - Kaze no Yukue, Seimei no Shinei brings together around 75 works in which weathering and renewal coexist. Irie's collage-based mixed-media printmaking combines translucent colour with enigmatic forms, moving from early pieces to works created in 2018 and the award-winning Daigo Weeping Cherry Blossoms.
The artwork is arranged around confrontation, observation, coexistence, movement and flight, with oil paintings appearing alongside mixed-media pieces. A feature on Irie's creative process introduces her studio and explores both her mixed-media methods and copperplate printmaking. An essay by Akira Tatehata, an artist profile and a list of works complete the book.
Born in 1980, Irie completed postgraduate study in printmaking at Tama Art University and studied in France in 2012 through an Agency for Cultural Affairs programme. This first collection from Tokyo Bijutsu presents her work in a 112-page Japanese-language A4 volume.
