Between the White Key and the Black Key Limited Blu-ray + CD

Music fills the spaces in life as two lives intersect in a single night of jazz. Sosuke Ikematsu stars in Between the White Key and the Black Key, presented in this limited-production Blu-ray edition with more than one hundred minutes of supplementary video. It also includes an original soundtrack on UHQCD, bringing together more than sixty minutes of the film’s score, featured songs and ending music.

At the end of 1988, aspiring jazz pianist Hiro plays at a rundown cabaret in Ginza’s nighttime district. A mysterious man who wanders in asks him to play The Godfather Love Theme. Hiro has no idea that performing “that song” will bring disaster: in this part of Ginza, only Chairman Kumano is permitted to request it, and only the chairman’s favorite, the accomplished pianist Minami, is allowed to perform it. Ikematsu plays both Hiro, who is chasing his dream, and Minami, who has lost sight of his.

Their destinies become entwined, drawing in senior pianist Chikako, bandleader Miki, who runs the local club bands, and American jazz singer Lisa. Together they face an utterly unpredictable night. Riisa Naka plays Chikako, Kazuya Takahashi plays Miki and Crystal Kay plays Lisa, alongside Go Morita as the mysterious visitor and Takashi Matsuo as Kumano.

The supplementary programme includes a making-of feature; interviews with Sosuke Ikematsu, Riisa Naka, Go Morita and Kazuya Takahashi; stage greetings from the September 4, 2023 premiere screening and October 6 opening day; and a trailer collection containing a teaser, the main trailer and four special videos. Special storage-box packaging is an announced first-press feature, available only while supplies last and not guaranteed.
