Brats Be Ambitious Blu-ray

Director Shin Adachi, writer of 100 Yen Love and director of A Beloved Wife, presents a moving tale of childhood conflict, courage and departure! The first film starring Yukiya Ikegawa of Kansai Johnny's Jr. group Boys be arrives on Blu-ray.

Shun, played by Ikegawa, is an ordinary elementary-school boy living in a provincial town. His worry is not his mother's breast cancer... but the prospect of being forced into a cram school for junior-high entrance exams. All he wants is to have fun with his friends. His closest companions include Ryuzo, played by Akira Tashiro, whose father, played by Masatoshi Nagase, has a criminal record, and Nishino, played by Kanade Iwata, who dreams of becoming a filmmaker despite being bullied. These boys have varied backgrounds and struggle while desperately dreaming of tomorrow.

Family circumstances, adults' demands, bullying at school and summons from delinquent junior-high students pile up beyond what they can bear. One day Shun pretends not to see bullying. His cowardly weakness is exposed and relationships with his friends become strained. His mother's cancer also recurs, and painful days begin as though he has been punished. To earn back his precious friends and his own pride, Shun becomes desperate for the first time.

Video extras include approximately fifty minutes of making-of footage, stage greetings at the Tokyo premiere screening at Marunouchi TOEI, opening-day greetings at Marunouchi TOEI and Shinjuku Musashinokan, and the theatrical trailer.

The region-free Blu-ray contains approximately 145 minutes of main film in Japanese Linear PCM 5.1 surround, with a separate Japanese stereo audio-description track and Japanese subtitles for viewers with hearing impairments.
