Writer Riko is called to Tohoku after the sudden death of her estranged older brother. There she reunites with his former wife Kanako, their daughter Marina and his son Ryoichi, who has been placed in temporary care. Clearing out his cluttered apartment brings years of resentment back to the surface, but the family photographs covering its walls suggest a life Riko did not fully understand. Over four chaotic days, anger, laughter and grief begin to change how the four see him and one another.
Ryota Nakano, director of The Asadas! and Her Love Boils Bathwater, adapts Riko Murai's nonfiction essay Ani no Shimai into an intimate story about reconsidering family after loss. Kou Shibasaki stars alongside Joe Odagiri and Hikari Mitsushima.
The deluxe two-disc Blu-ray includes the 127-minute film, making-of footage, appearances at the premiere screening and opening-day stage greetings, and a trailer collection. The feature offers Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, a Japanese audio-description track in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, and Japanese and English subtitles.
