With the original series having passed eight million copies in circulation, the acclaimed Bungo Stray Dogs stage series brings its latest production, Jo, to home video! For the first time, the stage series adapts the novels.

The hit Bungo Stray Dogs franchise also saw its third television anime season broadcast in April 2019. Its first stage production, based on episodes from the anime's first cour, opened in Yokohama in December 2017 and became a sold-out success. The second production adapted the Dark Era story so passionately loved by fans. The third expanded considerably, visiting five cities across Japan and bringing the struggle against the new force known as the Guild to the stage.

This time, a new approach presents two productions in parallel. Based on the Kadokawa Beans Bunko novels The Untold Origins of the Detective Agency and Osamu Dazai's Entrance Exam, they weave two stories of beginnings.

Backstage extras offer a close look at the photo shoots, rehearsal room and work behind the scenes during the performances, along with candid moments and the process of creating the production. Full-stage views of both closing performances and a live broadcast from March 2020 accompany the two plays, making this the stage series' most substantial home-video release at the time.

The edition includes a booklet, backstage footage, full-stage recordings of the final performance of each play, and the Bungo Stray Dogs Stage emergency live special originally streamed on Niconico Live on March 7, 2020. The Tokyo production ran at Owlspot from September 11 to 27, 2020.

The Untold Origins of the Detective Agency: More than a decade ago, a silver-haired lone wolf was making a name for himself as a bodyguard in Yokohama. His name was Yukichi Fukuzawa. A strange turn of events leaves him looking after Ranpo Edogawa, a boy who is outrageously self-centred and refuses to listen to anyone, yet possesses extraordinary powers of deduction. Fukuzawa and Ranpo visit a theatre to provide protection after a murder threat. But a killing takes place on stage, seemingly at the hands of someone invisible... This is the story of how the Armed Detective Agency began.

Osamu Dazai's Entrance Exam: The rigid idealist Doppo Kunikida belongs to the Armed Detective Agency, which specialises in dangerous requests beyond the reach of the military and police. He finds himself partnered with a suspicious newcomer, the suicide-obsessed Osamu Dazai. As they investigate a bizarre haunted-house case, the pair discover numerous missing people. Then Ryunosuke Akutagawa of the Mafia, the agency's enemy, attacks them... Their troublesome partnership began here!
