Call Me by No Name adapts Yuki Shasendo's novel into a girls' love mystery about an unsettling bargain and the past concealed by a changed name. University student Megumi Yotsugi encounters Kotoha Furuhashi abandoned at a rubbish collection point and invites her home. Fascinated by the elusive young woman, Megumi asks to become friends, only to be refused. Kotoha offers a stranger arrangement: they will be lovers until Megumi discovers her real name, at which point they can become the friends Megumi originally wanted.

Unable to back away from the challenge, Megumi gradually grows closer to Kotoha. Their awkward relationship becomes increasingly meaningful, but the history hidden behind Kotoha's name begins to intrude on the present. Solving the mystery may also mean bringing their romance to an end.

Mio Kudo plays Megumi and Ichika Osaki plays Kotoha, joined by Tomo Nakai, Ui Mihara, Tamao Sato and Ryo Hashimoto. Yuka Eda directs the entire series, with a screenplay by Miki Matsugasako and music by Tomohide Harada. Momoko Nishiyama serves as intimacy coordinator and Yuri Igarashi provides LGBTQ supervision. Studio Blue produces the drama for the Call Me by No Name Production Committee and MBS.

The two-disc box contains all eight episodes, approximately 192 minutes of main programme, with Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo and Traditional Chinese subtitles for the episodes. Extras include a behind-the-scenes making-of programme, episode 1 visual commentary with Mio Kudo and Ichika Osaki, and footage from the advance screening and completion talk event. An outer sleeve and a colour photo booklet filled with off-camera photographs accompany the discs.
