Candlestick Blu-ray

A seven-day deadline draws an international group of schemers into a financial con spanning six cities across Japan, Taiwan, Iran and Hawaii. Named after the price charts used to track financial markets, Candlestick follows ten men and women trying to outwit the artificial intelligence guarding financial transactions, while an unexpected mastermind brings their competing ambitions into collision.

Newly released from prison, former genius hacker Nohara meets Kyoko, a woman who shares his synesthesia: both see numbers as colors. As they fall in love, ambitious Taiwanese entrepreneur Rinne recruits Nohara and his former associates for a foreign-exchange operation. Their target date is May 7, 2019, when Japan's change of era leaves banking systems unusually vulnerable to confusion.

Meanwhile, Yako House, a refuge for the children of refugees and immigrants in Kawasaki's industrial district, faces eviction. Farah and Iranian hacker Aban devise a plan to raise the money needed to save it. Their operation is scheduled for exactly the same time as Nohara's, setting two apparently separate schemes on a collision course.

Hiroshi Abe and Nanao lead an international cast including Sahel Rosa, Kenjiro Tsuda, YOUNG DAIS, Austin Lin and Alyssa Chia. Directed by Yota Yonekura, with music by Kenji Kawai, the film combines high-stakes financial manipulation with romance, deception and intersecting personal loyalties.

The 93-minute feature is presented in 1080p with a Japanese Linear PCM 5.1 track and no selectable subtitles.
