Candy Candy Song and BGM Collection 3CD

Meet again through a wonderful world of music. This collection brings together the score, theme songs and insert songs that the extraordinary melodist Takeo Watanabe created for the enduring anime classic Candy Candy.

First broadcast on October 1, 1976, the beloved series ran for 115 episodes. Its heroine faces hardship and trials while striving to go on living with a smile. The music that accompanies her story expresses universal human hopes and the joy of living through a classical sound, combining romance and elegance in a sweeping musical drama that stands among the finest achievements of Watanabe's anime work.

The fifth entry in Columbia Sound Treasure Series, which uncovers valuable recordings never previously released or issued on CD, revisits the composer behind such familiar classics as Cutie Honey, Heidi, Girl of the Alps and A Dog of Flanders. Rich orchestral performances sit alongside country-flavoured pieces and Scottish melodies, each carefully realised.

Alongside recordings heard on the 1981 television-original BGM collection, it includes previously unreleased music absent from that LP. The complete dramatic score is joined by the million-selling theme song performed by Mitsuko Horie and the series' insert songs, creating a collection devoted to the whole musical world of Candy Candy.
