Bunta has lost his job, his marriage and nearly all his money, and now moves between internet cafes. An interview at a company called Nonamare offers an improbable way out: its president asks him to swallow a capsule, then tells him that he is an esper whose job is to save the world. Bunta does not even know what his new power does. At his company accommodation, he meets Shiki, who believes that he is her husband. He is told to live with her as a married couple while obeying one baffling rule: he must not fall in love.

The assignments arriving through his work app seem trivial, but Bunta tackles them with the determination of a salaried employee. Akiko Nogi's original science-fiction romance follows the growing questions behind those missions, the meaning of companionship and the cost of saving others. Yo Oizumi and Aoi Miyazaki lead a cast including Dean Fujioka, Shohei Uno, Takumi Kitamura, Atsuko Takahata and Masaki Okada. Yoshiaki Murao and Daisuke Yamauchi direct, with music by Yu Takami and Nobuaki Nobusawa and the theme Watakushigoto performed by Kocchi no Kento.

All nine episodes occupy three Blu-ray discs, with a fourth devoted to 185 minutes of extras. These include making-of footage and mishaps, deleted scenes, an extended discussion with Oizumi, Miyazaki and Nogi, a seven-person cast conversation, the production press conference, announcement interviews with the leading pair and the wider cast, trailers and television spots, short social-media videos and special theme-song music videos. The 80-page booklet includes Nogi's commentary on the series in CHOTTO NOGI NOTE. The 402-minute main programme has Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio and accessible Japanese subtitles.
