City hunter Animation

Ryo Saeba’s destined confrontation begins! When an inescapable connection to the past confronts City Hunter, the curtain rises on the final chapter.

Tsukasa Hojo began serialising City Hunter in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985. Its collected volumes have sold more than 50 million copies. Released in 2019, City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes marked the series’ return approximately twenty years after the television anime and became a major hit, drawing more than one million cinema admissions. The familiar ending music and a newly written opening theme add vivid colour to this final chapter.

This story approaches Ryo Saeba’s origins. Beyond distant memories, does love await—or hatred? What does Angel Dust mean? City Hunter finally enters its final chapter. The Final Chapter Begins.

Ryo Saeba is City Hunter, the underworld’s number-one sweeper. Based in Shinjuku, he takes on a variety of requests with his partner Kaori Makimura. Their new client is Angie, a video creator, whose request turns out to be a search for a runaway cat! Ryo is thrilled by Angie’s beauty, while Kaori is excited by the generous fee.

With help from Umibozu and Miki, Metropolitan Police detective Saeko Nogami investigates an invention by the biotechnology company Zoltic. Commissioned by a mysterious organisation, this dark technology turns battlefield soldiers into superhumans. It is the latest form of Angel Dust, which once poisoned Ryo and brought about the death of his partner Hideyuki Makimura.

While the search for the cat continues, Angie’s life becomes a target. Refusing to reveal the true purpose of her request, she gazes at Ryo in a video and murmurs to herself: “Is this your greatest masterpiece?”

Assassins appear in pursuit of Angel Dust. A man watches from afar as Ryo and his friends are drawn into a ferocious battle. He is Shin Kaibara, the man who raised Ryo. When Kaibara fixes his gun’s sights, the destined confrontation begins!

The edition includes an audio commentary.
