Damemane! Blu-ray Box

Rina Kawaei stars in this entertainment-industry comedy as Miwa Kandagawa, a former celebrated child actor who hides her past and takes a provisional job at a talent agency under the name Michiko Sumidagawa. Her demanding boss, Shinichiro Saikawa, assigns her to the agency's struggling fourth division, home to difficult actors, academically gifted but socially oblivious personalities and gravure models with unrealistic expectations. Miwa must find a way to turn their careers around while keeping her own identity secret: discovery would mean immediate dismissal.

Her colleague Santa Kimura offers little useful help, while Reiko Kawashima, the accomplished head of the first and second divisions, repeatedly puts her down. Meanwhile, the agency's leading star, Yushi Sanada, begins approaching Miwa for reasons she cannot understand. Faced with impossible requests and an uncertain future, she refuses to give up on the performers entrusted to her.

Directed by Toichiro Ruto and his fellow directors, the series features Ken Yasuda, Yudai Chiba, Miu Tomita, Jin Suzuki, Anna Kurasawa, Airi Furuta, Yuki Hana, Risa Masuda, Shinobu Terajima, Munenori Nagano, Mari Hamada, Jun Hashimoto, Michiko Kichise and Ryosuke Yamada alongside Kawaei. Its music includes Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra's 'Watashitachi no Canon (VS. Chevon)', IVE's opening song 'DARE ME' and Ryosuke Yamada's insert song 'Hana no Youni'.

The four-disc box contains approximately 450 minutes of drama across three programme discs, including a director's cut of the first episode. A separate bonus disc presents making-of footage, and a booklet accompanies the set. Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio is provided, with accessible Japanese subtitles for the main programme.
