Daughter of Lupin (2020) — Blu-ray Box

The sequel to Daughter of Lupin! Kyoko Fukada, the daughter of a family of thieves, and Koji Seto, the son of a family of police officers. A thief and a police officer begin their newlywed life together.

About the series This is the sequel to Daughter of Lupin, starring Kyoko Fukada, which aired in the July 2019 television season. It is based on Dai Yokozeki's novel of the same name, published by Kodansha Bunko in August 2015. The novel became a long seller, reaching number one in paperback sales at various bookstores. In the previous series, Hana and Kazuma fell in love after a fateful encounter. But when the family of thieves known as the L Clan was placed on a nationwide wanted list, they decided to part forever despite their love. In the final episode, Takeru's quick thinking — making it appear that the L Clan had died — finally allowed Hana and Kazuma to be together. This sequel follows what happens next. After overcoming many obstacles, Hana and Kazuma finally obtain the newlywed life of their dreams. But Hana belongs to the L Clan, whose members are officially dead, so theirs can only be a common-law marriage. In the previous series, Kazuma became a detective in the First Investigation Division, fulfilling his police-family's longstanding dream. In this series, however, he has been held responsible for dating Hana, the daughter of the L Clan, and demoted to a local police station. His marriage to Hana must of course remain secret at work, and he pretends to be single. Hana and Kazuma begin their newlywed life alone in a ramshackle apartment, where they can hear every word spoken by their neighbours. They have barely obtained their quiet life together when a neighbour is pursued by the police, bringing officers to question Hana next door as well. Takeru helps Hana escape and saves her from the crisis. Concerned for the couple's future safety, he gives them a luxurious apartment as a wedding present. But this apartment is part of a two-household residence connected to the L Clan's new home! Then Hana's brother Wataru finds the target for a major theft, and the L Clan makes its full return. What will become of Hana, who wants to cut ties with the family business and spend peaceful days with the Kazuma she loves?

Story The Mikumo family, whose trade is theft and who are known as the L Clan, have deceived the public into believing they are all dead. They are staying with Hana's boyfriend Kazuma Sakuraba and his family. Hana is played by Kyoko Fukada, and Kazuma by Koji Seto. But the Sakurabas are a police family. Although Hana's father Takeru, played by Atsuro Watabe, is a chivalrous thief and his thefts are less conspicuous than before, his repeated crimes make Kazuma's father Norikazu, played by Masayuki Shida, ill enough to take to his bed. Even Takeru realizes it is time to leave. As the Mikumos move out of the Sakuraba home, Hana and Kazuma move into an apartment. Before long, the police come close to catching Hana. Takeru rescues her and gives the couple a luxurious apartment — but it is part of a two-household residence connected to the Mikumos' new home. Takeru has unilaterally decided that the Mikumos and the couple must eat breakfast together. With no choice, Hana and Kazuma go to breakfast, only to find that Iwao, played by Akaji Maro, is missing even though the whole family should be there. According to Matsu, played by Donguri, he has gone to Kyoto. Then Hana's brother Wataru, played by Louis Kurihara, discovers Nobunaga's hidden treasure as the target for a major theft. The L Clan prepares to start operating again. Meanwhile, in Kyoto, where Iwao has travelled, middle-school student Mikumo Hojo, played by Kanna Hashimoto, is receiving instruction in detective work from her grandfather, played by Goro Ibuki, head of the famous Hojo detective family. Her grandfather is pleased to see her deduce the criminal behind a real case. At this point, however, Mikumo does not yet know the connection between the Hojos and the L Clan. Back with the Mikumos, someone else has stolen the treasure Wataru found, leaving Etsuko, played by Maju Ozawa, furious. Takeru reassures her that he already knows who took it. But the gang called the Thief Avengers, which outmanoeuvred the L Clan and stole the treasure first, is also being pursued by Kazuma and the police.
