Born to Die celebrates the anniversary project for the Founders Carla and Shin Tsukinami and the demon prince Kino. It follows the Sakamaki family’s fifth anniversary in 2017 and the Mukami family’s in 2018 with after-stories for these three characters. The first volume centres on Carla Tsukinami.

Born in order to die: an intimate, bloodstained anniversary begins. You want to celebrate your lover’s birthday. He dismisses the idea as foolish, but then his mouth twists as though something has occurred to him. If that is what you want, he tells you, then try to entertain him.

He takes you away and confines you in an unfamiliar place. Alone together, with no one to interrupt, he playfully brushes his fangs against you. As you become increasingly bewildered and unsettled, he declares that he will not let you leave until he is satisfied. An endless bloodstained anniversary for just the two of you begins.
