Dollhouse Deluxe Edition Blu-ray

Shinobu Yaguchi writes and directs Dollhouse, a Japanese horror mystery starring Masami Nagasawa and Koji Seto. The film received the Best Film Award at the 45th Porto International Film Festival. Yuki Kojima, known as Yaffle, composed the score, and ZUTOMAYO performs the theme song Katachi.

Yoshie Suzuki and her husband Tadahiko are grieving the loss of their five-year-old daughter Mei. At an antiques market, Yoshie finds a doll that resembles the child and gradually regains her spirits by caring for it. When the couple have another daughter, Mai, the doll is forgotten. Five years later, Mai begins playing with it and a succession of strange incidents unsettles the family. Yoshie and Tadahiko try to get rid of the doll, but however often they throw it away, it returns, drawing them towards the secret hidden within it.

The cast also includes Tetsushi Tanaka, Aisa Ikemura, Totoka Honda, Hiroki Konno, Naomi Nishida, Toru Shinagawa, Ken Yasuda and Jun Fubuki. Ikemura plays Mai and Honda plays Mei.

The deluxe edition contains the 110-minute film and a five-minute collection of teasers, trailers and television spots on the main Blu-ray. Its separate 194-minute bonus Blu-ray includes making-of footage and a feature in which Yaguchi discusses the film's secrets. Event footage covers the Porto award homecoming report, the Japan premiere, opening-day stage greetings and the hit-celebration stage greeting. Overseas festival footage follows the film at the 45th Porto, 49th Hong Kong, 27th Udine Far East and 27th Shanghai international film festivals.

Further extras comprise an Aya video collection, social-media promotional videos, the theme-song promotional video, the TIFFCOM trailer, short bumper videos, the feature Living Dolls Really Exist, and a still-image collection of design drawings and storyboards. An outer case and an Aya mini photo book complete the package.
