DOPE: Narcotics Control Special Investigation Unit Blu-ray Box

In a near-future Japan, the mysterious drug DOPE can kill its users, yet rare survivors develop extraordinary abilities. Rookie narcotics officer Yuto Saiki is apparently dismissed after acting on his own during a dealer investigation. The dismissal is really a recruitment tactic: he is assigned to a secret special investigation unit formed to tackle DOPE-related crime.

A hostage incident involving a user known as a Doper sends Saiki into danger alongside unit chief Kosuke Katsuragi, Hikari Watanuki and Takumi Shibahara. When negotiations go wrong, fellow investigator Teppei Jinnai appears. Saiki's earnest belief in rehabilitation clashes with Jinnai's unconventional, irreverent approach, but the mismatched pair must work together while keeping secrets of their own. Jinnai's repeated contact with Jiu, an elusive man of many disguises, adds another mystery to their investigations.

Kaito Takahashi and Tomoya Nakamura lead this live-action adaptation of Chiaki Kisaki's novels, with Yuko Araki, Masaki Miura, Yudai Toyoda, Rinka Kumada, Teppei Koike, Atsushi Ito and Arata Iura. Shinichi Tanaka writes the screenplay, Takahito Uchisawa provides the music, Uru performs Never ends and King & Prince contribute I Know.

The four-disc Blu-ray box contains all ten episodes, totalling 436 minutes, on three main discs, with 112 minutes of extras on the fourth. The series has Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo audio and Japanese accessibility subtitles. A 24-page booklet is included.

Extras comprise making-of footage, separate special interviews with Kaito Takahashi and Tomoya Nakamura, collaboration videos for Never ends and I Know, their London-bus publicity appearance, the production press conference, cast wrap-up footage and a spot collection.
