Ko Hara's novel Eat the Firebird, winner of the grand prize at the fortieth Yokomizo Seishi Mystery & Horror Awards, becomes a live-action film. Its mingling of mysteries and eerie phenomena leads toward a climax no one can predict. The three central actors create compelling chemistry: Koji Mizukami and Mizuki Yamashita play Yuji and Yuriko Kuki, a married couple living in Shinshu who become caught in strange events, while Ryota Miyadate plays Hokuto, a mysterious man deeply familiar with the paranormal. Accomplished actors Misato Morita and Ken Yoshizawa, rising talent Yudai Toyoda and the expressive Yumi Aso strengthen the cast of this mystery full of unprecedented surprises.

Macaroni Enpitsu's theme song "Bakemono" heightens the lingering fear and excitement at the climax. The deluxe edition offers a visual commentary with Koji Mizukami, Mizuki Yamashita and Ryota Miyadate, alongside making-of and stage-greeting footage.
